Nearly a year after the case broke, the operators of the now infamous A&L Poultry were arraigned on felony animal cruelty charges this afternoon in Stanislaus County for abandoning 50,000 hens at their battery cage egg farm. Associated Press reports: “TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors say two poultry farmers accused of leaving 50,000 hens to starve are facing felony animal cruelty charges. Andy Cheung and Lien Diep were arraigned Monday on the charges in Stanislaus County Superior Court.
